Sunrise on Sandy Beach

When Jareth and Sadie told me they wanted to announce their first pregnancy to their friends and family with a photoshoot, to say I was excited was an understatement! I was already visiting the beautiful Oahu, Hawaii when I met this beautiful couple, and their news was too exciting not to share. We started to consider the times that worked best to align our schedules, and settled on a midweek sunrise. This timing also gave us the additional benefit of complete privacy on the east side of the island.

On this island, the possibilities for a beautiful location are endless, so we had to narrow down the type of scenery they were looking for. We finally landed on Sandy Beach, which is east-facing for the most impact for golden-hour at sunrise. I woke up at 3:45 to meet them on the shoreline at 5:15, and the early wake-up call was more than worth it. It was a soft sunrise, with cotton-candy colors that made for perfect lighting, right over calendar-worthy scenery. Their neutral outfit choices were subtle against the white sand, and we shared the morning with a few wild chickens and even a crab before grabbing an early breakfast at one of their favorite Oahu places.
