Hi there

I’m McKenna

the creator of M.Large Photography. I am an intimate wedding and elopement photographer, with a big passion for everyday adventures. But photographer just doesn’t cover it — consider me your elopement planning assistant, location scouter, consultant and hype gal, too because I’ll be right there with you from the moment you hit “send” on your contact form.

I am a storyteller and creative, and I am genuinely so in love with what I do (and the awesome people that I meet along the way.) If you’re an adventurous soul, love getting lost in laughter, and that twinge of nostalgia forming as a moment becomes a memory, we may just make a perfect match. These are the best moments to freeze forever.

Thank you for being here.

I whole-heartedly believe

that the best love stories are full of new experiences together and the ‘laugh-until-you-can’t-breathe’ moments. The kind of love that makes you feel daring and brave, ready to take on the world hand-in-hand. And what better way to celebrate a wild love than an adventuring to a new corner in the world? I grew up in the midwest country, so I’m not shy about getting a little dirt under my nails or snow in my boots to capture your moments.

Some may call me an…

ALL THE DETAILS

I am all about traveling and exploring new places, from beaches to deserts and everywhere in between. I’d opt for piling into a camper with friends over an all-inclusive resort, and food trucks over gourmet restaurants.

Wisconsin- I recently moved back to the cheese state to be closer to my wonderful (and big) family.

A couple’s first dance. They are always so immersed in the moment together, soaking up the feeling of holding their love while surrounded by incredible scenery.

Catch me editing on the couch watching Friends for the millionth time, with my black lab pup Sprout cuddled up next to me. I can’t get enough of my outdoor adventures, but my editing cave is really cozy, too.

An Alaskan elopement at a remote Glacial Lake accessed through a helicopter tour, so the couple can have complete privacy to exchange their vows and explore one of the most secluded areas in the world.

The couple was enjoying a quiet moment together after exchanging vows between cacti at Saguaro National Park. I was witnessing this beautiful embrace, desperate to capture the perfect shot for them. I squatted for a lower angle, and sat straight in a cactus. (I wish I were kidding.) I pretended like nothing happened, and then spent over an hour trying to get each glochidium out when I got back home.

HOW I FELL IN LOVE WITH ELOPEMENTS

I grew up in a tiny town in Wisconsin, where everyone knew each other, and it seemed the whole town was involved in every wedding I attended. Now, let me get this straight, I have always loved weddings of any kind, but it started to feel like almost every wedding looked the same. And as much as I loved going to weddings, there was something about that… it just didn’t resonate with me. It’s not how I pictured my own wedding would look someday.

Ever since I could remember, I used say I wanted a teeny tiny wedding along the Lake Michigan shoreline (it was only a couple miles from my house, and my favorite place for a beautiful view). That was before I knew what adventure elopements were.

As I broke into the wedding photography industry, I discovered that there was an entire industry for people just like me— who cherished an intimate experience and wanted a wedding day that looked a little different, and a little adventurous.
