Hank and Kayla went for a casual, but upscale wedding celebration right outside their home city of Austin, Texas. They entered the gateway to Hill Country to celebrate their marriage by glamping in the Dripping Springs countryside with beautiful views. Surrounded by their closest friends and family, their intimate wedding included all of the important details that made it so personal to them. It was an honor to document this day, and you can see how intentional it all was showcased below.

Getting Ready in Glamping Cabins

I arrived in Austin the day before Hank + Kayla’s wedding day, which gave me some time to explore Dripping Springs after hearing so much about it. With the rolling hills and fall greenery, I knew exactly why they were so in love with this place. The morning of the wedding, the two were getting ready with their respective wedding parties on site at the D6 Retreat.

In the main house, there was plenty of space to spread out and provide a hidden bridal suite and separate groom cave. The guys poured drinks and watched fall football, while the gals gathered with music and dancing for hair and makeup. I met them mid morning, and began my day with detail shots and chatting with the other vendors while they took their time getting ready. Kayla and Hank knew nearly all of the vendors personally, which made it such a special event for each of us as well!

Before any guests began arriving, both were ready for an emotional first look away from the cabins. Overlooking the beautiful scenery, they talked in private and exchanged an intimate moment to celebrate the day ahead.

Sunset Ceremony in an Outdoor Chapel

As guests began to gather, the outdoor bar was set up for pre-ceremony cocktails and chatting. The 70 degree fall day was perfect for everyone to enjoy the sun and the company.

A string duo played next to the chapel as each family member walked down the boho rug aisle. The song changed right before Kayla and her dad entered the chapel, and all heads turned. As she entered toward the open front and met her groom, the sun was setting behind them, giving the entire ceremony a beautiful backlit glow.

Hank’s sister officiated, which made for very personalized words throughout. Many guests were both laughing and crying at moments, and by the time the two exchanged the vows they had written each other, the depth of their love for each other filled the air. It was truly one of those moments that you feel lucky to witness, and can just feel that the couple standing before you is meant to be together.

Reception Under the Fall Stars

Following the intimate ceremony, everyone moved over just a little ways to gather for a cocktail hour outside the D6 cabins. Hank, Kayla and I snuck away for a few sunset portraits, and they took a few minutes to enjoy each others’ company before returning to the party. Meanwhile, guests enjoyed specialty margaritas from their favorite restaurant, popcorn of all flavors, and got their portraits done in watercolor while visiting.

Deep dish gourmet pizza was being prepared in a cabin kitchen, and by the time the early fall sun had gone down, nearby picnic tables were being filled to enjoy the yummy dinner. A champagne toast followed dinner, and the speeches were met with cheers and lots of laughs.

Hank and Kayla came together on the rugs that had previously made the aisle, but this time for their first dance. Dancing under the stars with string lights made for a movie-worthy romantic night. The remainder of the reception was filled with more dancing, bourbon-soaked cake, and lots of love and joy. I felt so honored to capture these moments for you, and I am so grateful to know you two! Congratulations, Hank and Kayla!
